Owen Shire

Owenshire is the solo project of Robert Muhlbock.  Rob is a professor at Fanshaw College in London ON.
In 2011, finally making good on his recurrent New Year's Resolution to "do something with [his] music," Robert Muhlbock began posting every song he has ever written to the internet under the official (and final) band name of Owenshire. Social networking profiles were registered, and artwork is being created as you read this.

In essence, Robert Muhlbock is living his life in reverse, filling in the years that were "supposed" to be filled with Owenshire albums, videos, interviews, and art. Owenshire have 11 albums worth of material: all sequenced and all titled. Once everything is posted to the internet, the real work begins: recruiting people to help turn each and every "live demo" into a fully-fledged studio song.

The City Streets, hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada formed in 2005. They relocated to Montreal in late 2009. They play diverse melodic power pop/rock with the spirit of punk rock rattling around underneath.

They have toured North America extensively, visiting almost every province and state at least once, and performing in Haiti/Mexico. The City Streets have played over 450 shows and counting.

Amber Ladd
From: Toronto On (originally)
Song: What I Believe

Amber says music is not just her passion, its her life, her soul and her purpose.
Her self-produced solo project “it”, a follow up the successful “tRip”, was released this
and is another example of the power in the perfect combination of styles and sounds. Along with
vocals not to be forgotten, Amber uses instruments, processors, samples and loopers to put
together her multi-faceted electronic musical creations. To her, they are not just tracks, they are
steps on her journey exploring her passions, and steps closer to achieving her dream life – which,
she would tell you, we are all meant to do.

  1. Thanks for highlighting Canadian music.
Have picked up some interesting musical leads for new music from your shows (my personal interests are closer to heavy metal, progressive & symphonic metal, but appreciate that you feature many genres).
Have looked thru the various posts from the 12 IR Canada posts but could not find this band: Have you heard of / listened to "Perpetuate" from Windsor, Ont> Some interesting stuff - hope to hear more of them on your show.
    Regards
    Petey-dog from Mississauga.

  2. Just wondering if you've ever heard of a band called Perpetuate from Windsor, Ont. Power metal with female vocalist - nice clean sound. Sadly, they've disbanded to pursue other challenges. Wonder if you'd give them a shout-out on a future IR Canada show.

BTW: keep up the good work on IR Canada - I've discovered some cool bands on your podcasts, & looking forward to more.
