From: Waterloo ON
Song: Roots - ft. Grant Bielefeld

JoJo Worthington is an independent artist from Waterloo, ON known for her quirky, unique songs on the ukulele

At age eight, JoJo began to take vocal lessons and soon fell in love with singing. As well in her early youth, she played a variety of instruments including violin, harp, piano, clarinet, drums and guitar. However, guitar, piano and ukulele were the ones she chose to pursue.

At the age of 14, JoJo began to write songs on the guitar. She decided that her songs should be heard and so she formed a local band. Having gained experience performing on her own and within bands, JoJo was becoming an avid songwriter. She then decided to go solo, this time with the ukulele. Since then JoJo has been very successful in her solo career.

JoJo has recently released her first EP, “SOON”, which is a collection of six original songs performed by her with a little help from some talented Canadian musicians. She is proud to say that it is available on iTunes, HMV, Amazon and other music distributing sites.

Whitehorse
From: Hamilton ON
Song: achilies desire
Song: out like a lion

You could call the musical marriage of Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland a star-crossed creative partnership.
With The Fate of the World, their self-titled debut, which officially brought their solo careers together. They made their entrance as a band in August 2011, with an 8-song collection that played to their strengths with equal parts blues-stomp and ballad, seedy tale and sweet nothing. The album "freewheels between blues, folk and rockabilly with audible enthusiasm for experimenting with new sonic directions" with "addictively tuneful" results (Toronto Star).

Their new album, The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss, out on January 15, 2013,

Since their debut last year, Whitehorse has been on a tear, with a sold out tour across Canada and a packed house at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre last February.
McClelland often shares the stage with Sarah McLachlan as touring partner and backing vocalist.

Individually, they have been recognized with awards and nominations from the Juno Awards, Polaris, Canadian Folk Music and Independent Music Awards.

This was a great show.  Lots of new bands for me that I'd never heard of before.  Posting tour dates, and learning more about these bands was great fun.   I've seen Jojo perform live and it was wonderful to be able to include her in this show and help support a local musician.
